Maggie is a psychologist, specialising in health psychology. Maggie worked as a project manager in financial services for several years after completing her undergraduate degree. She developed an interest in stress and health, which prompted her to study an MSc in Health Psychology at University of Stirling, graduating in 2005. Maggie went on to complete her PhD looking at psychological factors associated with walking in patients with vascular disease. She is particularly interested in how patients cope with long-term conditions, and helping patients to self-manage chronic illnesses. Maggie has experience of both qualitative and quantitative research and has managed a number of clinical trials. Maggie joined the NMAHP Unit in 2016 to work on the eMERGe study.
